52 Weeks 52 Improvements: Week 13 – Supporting & Valuing Colleagues Conference

On Saturday 31st March 2019, over 90 colleagues from across Tops Day Nurseries, Aspire Training Team and Head Office attended the Supporting & Valuing Colleagues Conference at Bournemouth School for Girls. By attending the conference, colleagues at a managerial level gained a deeper understanding of how they can support their team.

As well as local colleagues, those from as far away as Plymouth, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Winchester and Taunton attended the all-day conference in order to better understand how to support and value colleagues.

The main aim of the conference was to look at how we can improve staff retention which included a brief look at the data and answering why we need to do this followed by discussing a range of ideas, courses and improvements.

Part of the conference focussed on anti-anxiety techniques which included yoga and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Neuro-Linguistic Programming is an approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy; it is about bringing about changes in perception, responsible communication and developing choices of responses or communication in a given situation. NLP works on the principle that everyone has all the resources they need to make positive changes in their own life.

Senior Area Manager, Diane Wycherley led a training session on the Restorative Approach, which is a philosophy of restoring working relationships when there has been or may be some conflict. This is a new approach for Tops & Aspire and one which will be implemented over the next few months.

A video will be produced in due course but meanwhile, here are a few photos from the day. You will also see some of the conference ideas being shared through blogs and facebook over the coming months.

Thank you for all who attended.
