Gabriella is a Level 2 Customer Service Apprentice with Aspire Training Team. She answered some questions to learn more about her life as an apprentice and personal experience.
Why an apprenticeship?
Because an apprenticeship is a great way to get a qualification through actual experience in the field. Also, if you’re unsure on what you want your career to progress into you can try different apprenticeships without having a massive loan to worry about.
Tell me about your apprenticeship and what you love most about it?
I’m a Level 2 Customer Service apprentice. My role goes from general administration to getting in contact with customers through the phone, email and etc. What I love about my apprenticeship is that I get to talk to different people everyday and hopefully help them in some way.
What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
In only a month I was awarded with two “Job Well Done”, which is a nice recognition of the work that I’m doing. And it pushes me to continue to do well.
In your opinion, what are the benefits of an apprenticeship?
It’s a great starting point to develop into a career. You get hands on experience and get paid whilst getting a qualification at the same time.
What skills have you developed during your time as an apprentice?
My people skills, like my confidence on talking to different people no matter their position in the company, or if it’s an external customer.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What are your future plans and aspirations?
Opening an independent art gallery. My plan is to finish my Level 2 and get a Level 3 qualification afterwards. So I can have experience on how a business work from the inside. My aspirations are to be happy in whatever route life takes me.
What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship?
Be prepared to actually work. Even though you’re also learning, most of your learning process comes from actively doing your job role.
