I attended Brockenhurst College to work towards my Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care. After gaining my qualification I decided I wanted to continue training but in a more ‘hands on’ environment.
I wanted to do an apprenticeship in care to help lead towards a career in nursing. I looked on the apprenticeship website and applied for a care position with Aspire Training Team. I enjoy my apprenticeship, I frequently shadow staff to see how they would handle certain situations, I really benefit from this as it extends my knowledge and helps me continue to learn. I love getting to know the residents, it is really important to build up a positive relationship with residents, staff and families, I do this by doing activities with them.
I found this job difficult to begin with as it was my first real experience within a care home, now I have settled and really enjoy my time here. I love helping out as much as possible and I’m gaining knowledge and new experiences every day. I would recommend doing an apprenticeship to anyone looking to start their career.
