Everybody wants to be happy, especially at work. We spend a huge amount of our time there, so why wouldn’t you want to be happy?
When we are happy at work, we are likely to also be happier in other areas of our lives. There is a firm belief across the UK that happiness at work should be on the list of top priorities of all organisations, big and small, national and international.
This week, the 20th to the 26th September 2021 is International Week of Happiness at Work, started by Maartje Wolff and Fennande van der Meulen in 2015.
Happiness at work pays off. When you are happy, you are healthier, more vital, more cheerful and more successful. For organisations, happier employees are more involved, more productive, more cooperative, more creative and more innovative. They are less likely to call in sick, and there is a decreased chance they will experience a burnout.
Happiness at work is about meaningful work, healthy relationships, development and having fun. It’s about stopping unnecessary rules, power play, complicated processes and procedures, absenteeism, unmotivated colleagues and terrible managers.
Here at Tops and Aspire, we have created a workplace to stimulate fun, appreciation, positive feedback, awesome challenges, trust, meaningful results and own responsibilities.
