I started by studying my level 1 in childcare. It took me 6 months to complete this and I got some great work experience in the nursery, working with children of different age groups.
I was then ready to start my apprenticeship, and I am now working towards my level 2.
My main responsibilities are keeping the children safe and happy, completing paper work and setting up and running activities.
I enjoy being given work to complete and having the responsibility to complete it by a set date. I like learning and increasing my knowledge about childcare and putting what I learn into practice in the nursery.
Doing an apprenticeship is one of the best ways to earn money while learning and gaining real experience.
I think being an apprentice is better than being an employee, as you still get paid for doing your job plus you gain your qualifications.
I really would recommend doing an apprenticeship. I personally find it the most enjoyable way to earn money and still qualify.
