Looking for an apprentice? Talk to Rob!

What do you do as part of your day to day role?

I am the business development manager for Aspire Training Team and My day to day role involves me contacting businesses and talking to them about apprenticeships and other opportunities to upskill their existing staff members to benefit their business.

What part of your job do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy the variety that my job role offers, I get the opportunity to travel across the South West of England and meet lots of new people. What excites me the most though is seeing an apprentice that you have dealt with from the beginning completing their qualification and progressing onto a high level qualification.

Are there benefits to an employer taking on an apprentice?

Yes, there are some huge benefits, I you employ a brand new apprentice you can train them the way that you want to and they can learn the needs of your business and work to your expectations. The costs are very low and apprentices can breathe new life into your business and are usually very enthusiastic.

Apprenticeships aren’t just for new employees, they can also be used to upskill your existing team members and investing in an employee’s training and development is a great way to improve staff retention and with very little cost to your business.

How can an employer go about getting an apprentice?

The easiest way is to just give me a call and I can talk you through the process and arrange to come out and meet with you in your work place to discuss how things work and what levels of funding you are entitled to.

Aspire Training Team offer a free recruitment process to support you in finding you an apprentice to fill your vacancy and this works even better if you can use your businesses recruitment strategy to support us. By working together it has been proven we can fill you vacancy much quicker.

What advice would you give to employers who are undecided about apprenticeships?

I would advise any employer who is sat on the fence when it comes to apprenticeships to have an informal chat with me. We can discuss the pro’s and cons and see what the best solution would be for your business. For small businesses the costs are minimal as there is government funding available and it could potentially be one of the best decisions that you ever make for your business.

It doesn’t always have to involve recruiting a new team member. Your existing staff are eligible to complete an apprenticeship alongside their current job role.

Finally what sectors are you currently able to offer apprenticeships in?

Aspire Training Team currently offer apprenticeships in Child Care, Business Administration, Customer Service and Leadership and Management, so there really is something for everybody.
