Lucy Abrahams – Business Admin Apprentice

I am currently studying my level 2 in Business Administration. Before I became an apprentice I was studying health and social care at college – very quickly I decided that I didn’t enjoy the course and spending all of my time in a classroom. Knowing that i didn’t want to spend a whole year in an environment i didn’t enjoy, i decided to start looking for an apprenticeship on the gov website. I decided I’d look for an apprenticeship as I didn’t want to spend the year unhappy in what I was doing. It was mainly the ‘hands on’ learning approach that appealed to me, as well as the job role itself.

Lucy was awarded Aspire’s June ‘Hall of fame’ award

I am currently working within the marketing department at Hadland Care Group. Some of my main responsibilities are blog writing, monitoring all social media accounts, writing event briefs and updating the companies 4 websites. I like my job because I am always busy and never stuck for things to do. One of the things I enjoy the most is helping to organise events and work at the events. I was so nervous during the first event i worked at but i had great support from the team. I now feel much more confident since starting my apprenticeship, whether its making phone calls, working at events, liaising with suppliers and making decisions with my team.

In the future, I would like to progress from doing my level 2 to doing the Level 3 Business admin course.

I would recommend doing an apprenticeship to anyone! An apprenticeship is a great way to get into the working world. It really helped to boost my confidence and has taught me to believe in myself more. Doing an apprenticeship is the best decision I ever made!
