Are you motivated and enthusiastic about caring for children? The Level 1 course in Caring for Children is a new and free qualification for 16-18 year olds.
Becky Pratten, the Aspire Training Team’s Foundation Learning Manager, explains more about the course and tells us who she is looking to enrol.
It is my role to recruit and train students for this course. I run weekly practical workshops and also provide my students with childcare work placements to encourage their learning and development.
I ensure each student is fully supported throughout their Level 1 journey and I then support them if they move onto a Level 2 apprenticeship or further education.
So, what do you need to join us? I am looking for any person aged 16 – 18 who is motivated and enthusiastic about caring for children. You do not need to have had any previous experience or qualifications, just a caring personality and willingness to get messy with children!
We’re also looking for passion in what you do – passion is the key to working with any young person. Your passion gives them the motivation and encouragement to progress.
As it is now compulsory for all young adults to attend school or to be in training until they reach the age of 17, the level 1 in Caring for Children is on-the-job training and gives you a City & Guilds qualification, and is a great alternative to school.
This course offers practical experience whilst learning the basics of childcare.
Once you have completed your Level 1, which can take anywhere from 6 months to a year, you can then look to do a paid apprenticeship and undertake your Level 2 qualification.
If you’re interested, please get in contact. You can email us at info@aspiretrainingteam.co.uk or call us on 01202 649 646.
Please feel free to ask us any questions. If you wish to enrol, we can arrange a time for you to come along and speak to us and fill out the enrolment form.
Once your DBS check has been completed, the course can start for you – simple as that.
