When I left school I decided to pursue a career in childcare, which led me to a placement at a Parkstone nursery. I specialised in the 2-year-old age group whilst working towards my NVQ level 2.
In 2001 I got a supervisors position within the same nursery chain, this time-based in Wimborne. During my time at the nursery, I gained an additional childcare qualification, NVQ 3 in Early Years Care and Education, which led me to a deputy managers role. As the nursery expanded and opened a play club, I completed my D32, D33 Assessors award predominately teaching NVQ’s in Playwork level 3.
In 2004 another setting opened within the chain and I transferred to Aspire as their key assessor.
Over the past 11 years, I have enjoyed my role at Aspire delivering levels 2 and 3, plus the functional skills awards in Maths, English and ICT. In 2010 I completed my level 4 Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector qualification in between having 2 children.
Having started as an apprentice 16 years ago Aspire has helped me to progress and achieve further qualifications, which I find invaluable when assessing and delivering Childcare awards.
