Jack joined us in January 2021 and is currently working towards his Level 2 in Childcare at Tops Bournemouth.
You started during lockdown so are still new to the role, how are you finding it so far?
I have really enjoyed everything so far about the job role. Despite being in lockdown it has not felt that way and work has been fun and engaging for me.
What made you want to get into the childcare industry? Is it something you have always wanted to do?
As I grew up I realised I loved kids and always wanted one. Lately I have also thought about what I would want to do work wise and what I actually would really enjoy and I saw the advert for this apprenticeship and applied straight away not thinking that I would get it. Working in child care is something I have always thought about but only had the confidence to go for it recently.
What do you love the most about your job so far?
I love the kids I think they are all so unique and funny, it’s exactly as I imaged it would be. The team I am working in as well is great and everyone is so helpful and funny, makes the day go by so quickly.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to work in the Early Year’s sector?
My advice would be if you really want a career in childcare and are willing to put the work in go for it. It’s extremely rewarding and such an upbeat environment to be in.
Would you recommend a Childcare Apprenticeship? Why?
I would recommend a childcare apprenticeship as it’s very hands on and you get a qualification while you work which feels a lot more rewarding and gives you a proper insight to a nursery setting. It also helps pave the way for progression in the future and helps you think about where you see yourself in the future.
