This is an opportunity for you to get paid whilst working towards a recognised qualification. This programme provides you with the knowledge and skills required to work in a childcare setting at an assistant level.

It allows you to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience, along with functional and personal skills, required for their job and future career with children and young people.

About This Level 2 Childcare Qualification

The aim of this qualification is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.

You will spend time within a childcare setting gaining the practical experience required to work with children and young people. You will be assessed at your setting and will also complete written tasks to demonstrate your competence. You will be supported throughout the course by your assessor through an online learning environment.

This qualification will allow for you to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce.

Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:

• Nursery practitioner
• Classroom assistant
• Pre-school practitioner

The completion of the Level 2 allows you to progress onto Level 3 Early Years Educator Childcare Diploma you have gained further experience.
