Since launching Aspire Training Team, we have received the Beacon Award for Training Excellence, an Outstanding Ofsted grade, the matrix standard, recognition from Investors in People and top grades from City & Guilds. But what does this actually mean for young people and employers across Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset?
We have been awarded with the Beacon Award from Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) twice since launching. This top level award recognises our achievements, particularly our ‘Outstanding’ record from Ofsted. In our latest Ofsted report we were rated as outstanding for our overall effectiveness, outcomes for our learners, quality of the training provided and our response to meeting the needs of both our employers and learners. We were also commended for our leadership and management abilities, with the directors and managers recognised for their inspiring leadership, high expectations and challenging targets.
The matrix standard is a unique quality standard developed to measure businesses who supply information, advice and/or guidance (IAG). Businesses are assessed not only on how the advice is given but also the results of the training and the successes of their learners. There are four elements that are assessed for the matrix standard;
1). Leadership and management – how the organisation is led and managed including objectives, policies, legislation compliance and how effective external relationships are built,
2). Resources – that these are used effectively to fully maximise training and development opportunities,
3). Service delivery – managing employer and learner expectations when meeting their aims and objectives, and allowing them the opportunity to make their own decisions while still having appropriate support,
4). Continuous quality improvement – ensuring that standards are maintained and measured, evaluating employers and learners successes against their agreed objectives.
It is only through meeting all these criteria effectively and consistently that a business can achieve the matrix standard, and assure potential partners of their high standards and success.
Investors in People was launched in 1991 and since then has been assessing and recognising businesses who are great employers and are an outperforming place to work. All this is assessed by a rigorous framework focussing on the people in a business. Amongst other indicators, Investors in People will analyse how employees are aligned with business objectives through online research, observations and face to face meetings. Investors in People is the benchmark for people management, and so to be recognised by them means we have proven to be able to lead, support and manage people well for the best results.
Receiving recognition for the hard work the directors, managers, assessors and learners do every day is a wonderful reward, but keeping the standard of learning at the highest quality ensures that our learners are reaching their potential not only for their future career but also for the success of the businesses that employ them.
