In February 2021 Aspire Training Team became the first training provider in the UK to achieve B. Corp status.
A B-Corporation business is one that goes the extra mile when it comes to being sustainable and eco-friendly. The certification labels an organisation as meeting the highest social and environmental standard of living and working for people and the planet. Only 3,500 businesses in the world, spread across 70 countries, have this certification. B-Corp is very hard to get, with a business having to go through a long assessment process and needing to meet lots of different requirements.
The certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials. In order to achieve certification, a company must:
- Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing our risk review. Multinational corporations must also meet baseline requirement standards.
- Make a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders, and achieve benefit corporation status if available in their jurisdiction.
- Exhibit transparency by allowing information about their performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
It is a huge achievement for us to have achieved B-Corp Certification. We are so excited to be celebrating B-Corp month, just after our one year B-Birthday, with thousands of other amazing companies.
